A webcomic about people who shouldn't exist, but do. Currently on hiatus. More info here: https://dnathewebcomic.com

Written and drawn by @tuxedodemon.com
I've been trying to learn some basic math concepts I missed out on when I was in middle/high school, and ended up using it to create this little abstract art thing with javascript over the last few weeks. It's been this and the comic I've been doing lately.

I'll probably make a blog post soon.
Improved upon whatever this is: tuxedodemon.com/circle-shapes
added more shapes and fixed some of the math. it also has save and reset buttons now so you can download whatever words/pattern you got.

I don't think I talked about this yet--i figured out how to implement a rudimentary plugin system, which was really exciting; i learned how to create PHP event listeners, which wasn't something I thought was possible, but here we are.

frothing at the mouth and chewing on the table because of how close i'm getting to being finished with the art half of what i've been working on while also sobbing outwardly because i still have the entire website half of this mess to sort out

idk how presentational bits get shuffled from wherever they live on the server to the actual webpage normally but i put this thing together over the last few weeks so i don't have to think about it

and it works!!

....minus the fact i still need to build a user interface lol

I made:
- multiple classes whose purposes are to build javascript and css objects in different configurations.
- the things that take those objects and turns them into useable strings.
- a thing that will instantiate those objects and make them for me, before passing them to the string maker.

Unrelated to the content warning stuff, some pages are going to have additional CSS and/or JavaScript driven effects.

There will be a cookie you can set that will turn that stuff off if it's not doing anything other than making things harder/annoying to read.

More info about the content warning system because that's what's on my mind right now lol

So ComicControl, which is what I was going to use to host my comic until I realize it's not being maintained, has a built in content warning system.

It did what you'd expect, but the problem I--

What I'm working on right now is the search/tagging system. I want there to be two of them: one for content, one for characters.

Content tags will be used for searching specific pieces of art/comic pages/etc, but i also want them involved in the content warning system im planning.

update on that CMS thing I've been building:
October 21, 2025 at 11:07 AM
Genuine question: The website technically is comic related (in that it both hosts the comic and is going to be participating in the storytelling somewhat itself), so do you guys want me to yell about that even if it's something you don't understand, or should I just be quiet like I've been?
September 29, 2025 at 12:28 AM
lol i pulled apart the CMS entirely because the logic i set up that dictates which part of the URL means what when and how, had problems.

so I'm rewriting that.

but also i think if i don't take a break from webdev i'll die so i'm putting 100% of my focus on the comic again instead of like, 20.

Ok the plan right now is:

- Buckle down and finish the thing im doing with book 1. We're actually getting pretty close with that, i think.
- Finish the CMS/website stuff for it just enough that it's actually usable
- Put stuff back up

That's probably reasonable, idk

I'm trying.

i finished a comic page this weekend and also completed something pretty major with the website stuff so as a reward i made whatever this is.

it's going to act... weird, if you're using an Android device, idk why. Pasting may have to happen twice.

Just use the reset button to clear everything.
Once again I am here with something I made that solves no problems and that nobody asked for or needs.

Behold: tuxedodemon.com/generator/wo...

If you manage to break it (and that is likely very easy to do) just hit the reset button or refresh the page.

Video of that thing I'm building for hosting my crap i was talking about a couple days ago.

It doesn't do the thing in the video anymore lol but this was from last night

I'm getting closer to being able to actually use it
javascript bugs are always so stupid lol

Hi
The comic still doesn't exist because I am trying to build two very difficult things by myself:

-The comic
-A content management system on which to host the comic because all known existing options are either abandonware, or not what I want.

Not sure I've shared screenshots of that project...?

do not expect me to add animation to the comic it takes me long enough as it is to finish anything ever

but here have this thing i did because i felt like it
I, uh. I made an attempt lol.

the last time i animated anything was for a class exercise 13 years ago where we drew a flour sack dancing to a song

but i had an urge, so. here we are.

This is a, "I just had this thought today," thing, so it's not set in stone.

But at this point in time, when the comic's back, I'm about 99% sure I'm going to be setting things up so that you must log in if you want to be able to access things like, for example, the comic archive.

Had a 1 step forward, 2 steps back type event happen, kinda upset about it.

I need to redo a significant chunk of the website thing I've been building, because i realized i put it together in a way that kinda... made it impossible to actually maintain.

So that can't stay like that.

Made something... a little different.

It has multiple endings.

tuxedodemon.com/high-score

........ I'm working on DNA today and at least for the rest of this week lmao, this was just... let's call it a learning exercise, for something I want to make eventually.

It has sound.

I have been Quiet because it turns out I'm good enough at the website making thing now to be trusted with building small, custom systems, front and back and artwork/photo editing, for small businesses that need it.

Who knew being irate over how crappy my comic's site was would land me here lol

doodled something that i feel comfortable posting for the first time in a while. i've been trying to visualize some things by sketching them out and sometimes coloring them in preparation for some stories i want to work on soon

bots that check my site quite literally every 5 minutes ad infinitum and are wasting more than 50% of my bandwidth get sent into the rickroll zone.

not saying this for any specific, particular reason.
January 17, 2025 at 6:40 PM
it's not doing this anymore lmao but this is where im at with that thing i said im doing
laughed way harder than i should've at this mess earlier

Art is finally starting to feel like something i enjoy doing again, after... idk, like a decade+ of feeling entirely drained and burnt out and absolutely hating it but doing it anyway bc it's the only skill i have

Hoping the feeling sticks, i missed it.
