The tractors and therefore the toy tractors of my childhood and the rural scenes. The four seasons countryside books were my favourites and the images have stayed with me.

My grannie was a nanny to a local land-owning family until she got married in 1924. She referred to the female members of her former employers by reference to their husband’s first names - Mrs Malcolm, Mr John &c. They referred to my granddad as Mr. Gar using the name they called her.

I think you could be on to something. In the 70s my brother belonged to a youth group in Reigate that offered both am-dram and D&D. I think my brother in law went to something similar in Liverpool too.

Elderly mother gave me 50p one. I never use cash these days so I’m now more familiar with Euro notes than Stirling. Mail with Charles III stamp looks as if comes from overseas.

In Europe we prefer our meat somewhat rarer, positively bloody in fact. Accompanied by a robust red wine rather than coke too. Still each to their own.

93 miles according to Google. About the same price as a senior return from Godalming to Guildford - 4 miles each way!

Indeed but then the mobile network doesn’t work very well once you get off the train in Godalming!
