New Hampshire’s Consumer Advocate, defending the interests of residential ratepayers. Cystic Fibrosis dad who talks back to Big Pharma. A fast fish and also a loose fish.
Someone must have reminded the Governor of how it went down the last time a PUC chair left office. Well into the evening, she signed an order to phase out ratepayer-funded energy efficiency programs. This time was different.

I really, really, really do not do protests. As a slightly visible state official, I try to stay out of the political fray. But I also have a conscience — and, yes, I wore that cystic fibrosis hat on purpose. Gutting the National Institutes of Health and the FDA is a mortal threat to CF families.

Just back from Iceland! Returned to the news that the hearing on HB610, which would abolish the NH Office of the Consumer Advocate, will be heard on March 5 at 10:00 a.m.i do not think New Hampshire should silence independent and principled ratepayer advocacy after nearly 50 years. More soon!

It’s 14 below in Concord right now and the spot price of electricity is 35.8 cents per kWh. Is this REALLY what we want to rely on for default energy service?

This is great.

Call me satisfied! The Moby-Dick Marathon at the New Bedford Whaling Museum was an absolute blast … it was such an honor to be among the 200+ readers. Come see me preach about Melville on 2/2 at the First Universalist Society of Hartland on 2/2!!

The Chanukah Menorah burns brightly at our family Christmas Dinner! Happy Jewish Festival of Energy Efficiency … to all who like negawatts more than megawatts.

This is why I hate the @nytimes.com WordleBot. I often get the Wordle in 3 by, essentially, psyching out the person that chose the word. But the bot always attributes that to dumb luck and implies that a better player would have chosen statistically likelier letters (and gone to a 4th guess). Grrrr.

This is too important a subject to hash out in the twitter cesspool. The proponents of abolishing the OCA, supposedly in order to lower rates, don’t understand what’s REALLY pushing electricity costs through the roof in New England. It’s transmission, regulated at the federal level.

One year's worth of prescription meds for one person living with cystic fibrosis. In case you were wondering why I am so concerned about bloated prescription drug prices.

Every time I see the signs on I89 in NH describing hospitals as “attractions” I find myself thinking they should also be listed as “lodging” and “food.”
