if he was a one-issue candidate back then it was for supporting legal weed

iirc he only flipped to backing recreational cannabis because his lt. governor, one John Fetterman, boxed him in on the issue in much the same way the Biden boxed in Obama on gay marriage

Fetterman's monomania for cannabis legalization was the foundation for a lot of his cred as a progressive

it's the "one must imagine sisyphus happy" concept except in reverse

all I'll add is that in my news career, there were stories I refused to write, you can do that if you're an ethical journalist

I get accounts like this following me every day and I mostly ignore them because I figure they'll get removed pretty quick, but the sheer ineptitude of this one tickled me

I could teach how to structure a story, how to write fast on deadline, how to conduct an interview, how to pick out what was newsworthy from a mass of information, how to grab a reader's attention

but I never taught anyone to be skeptical

this is kind of a futile exhortation on my part because I encountered too many journalists who had no skepticism filter, and I never succeeded in teaching any of them to develop one. And like, you really can't be a credible journalist without it
