A former journalist and current writer and editor. Used to trick a national newspaper into letting me run a videogames vertical, back when videogames verticals were a thing. Avatar doodled by Chip Zdarsky in 2015.
I feel like that's the exact kind of dumb idea that King would actually do though (complementary)

I believe they have all but said that their next console will essentially just be a windows box.

(Again: VERY good show. Just not mysterious at all.)

Even when you dig deeper and search for interpretive meaning, something where there's a lot of space for each person to find their own deep meaning, it's also fairly straightforwardly "Vince Gilligan doesn't like LLMs and made a fun show about it using a very thin metaphor"

Re-reading the review now and it tracks kind of neutral, which feels like a glowing endorsement coming from you.

This has given me a vivid memory of a 20 minute cab ride with a an increasingly flummoxed @pleasuremotors.bsky.social as I gave detailed recap of the first five movies (which he had not seen) on his way to review the sixth.

My read on that has always been that the "Prime" series is something that Nintendo has always semi-disowned as an American-developed offshoot. Also why I believe it (still) isn't allowed to play in the "current" Metroid timeline despite the compounding absurdity of so many prequels.

CSI is such a weird show. On the 1 hand utterly a procedural on the then most conservative network. On the other hand, I can't think of another show where the main character just sort of casually mentions he's into a BDSM lifestyle and is also a bottom and then it just mostly passes without mention.

I remember having an ~hour long~ argument about a fraction appearing on the front page as deadline loomed.

Yeah, Michael Chabon talked about it when he talked about joining the Picard writing team. A lot of the issues with Picard spun out from the fact that the S1 writing team was pretty clearly hired for that one idea and then had to pivot to something more traditionally epic Sci-Fi.
