and lets be fair, they did literally add a core thing to this and they release stability updates basically every single update, so they are far from doing anything to deteriorate the regular player experience, defo improving it actively. just hoping my mmo ptsd is simply overthought

its not something i'd buy vrc+ for forsure, the features I believe make vrc+ nice are the community features such as age verification, camera dolly, and photo invites. I don't think the consumables, bubblegun, emojis, things like that are nearly as worth it as a selling point as the UI upgrades

i dont think its a good or bad idea yet, but i do know ive seen things *become* bad and i just hope the things that this reminds me of, don't become what it is. this is fine as it is, im merely worried because of trends with microtransactions in other places gaming

so far they haven't done that *whatsoever* from my point of view, i am simply saying other games companies tend to make a trend of making the standard experience worse, in favor of selling more premium stuff in some very abrasive ways and i hope my deja vu is nothing more than a passing feeling

i again just hope they are aware of common practice of these kinds of things in the industry being a scary thing to consider, and continue to approach vrc+ in a way that adds tangible benefits to the regular experience and does not seek to diminish the experience we'd upgrade *with* purchasing vrc+

i just know things aren't as simple as some sort of buy-in service to have 100+ server caps, people often telling me it has less to do with server cost and more to do with stability but i know they can't just drop everything to work on the things i want, for many many reasons

i would normally pin these kinds of things as directly predatory and would signify a company willing to harm the experience of a playerbase if it means short term profit gain

right now i can't say that these are as egregious as the only other examples i would have to compare them too but yeah

and again, i'm not applying those metrics to vrc because this is indeed a small team i care about, but i do also hope they are aware of that nature surrounding microtransactions

im being gracious when i say that it doesn't upset me here, i signify an increase in unneeded microtransactions in mmos for example as a signifier of a dying game or a corrupt publisher.
