I know nothing about football scouting, but even aside from the efficacy of such a decision, you don't want your scouting team subject to the whims of GitHubstatus.com when it comes to reliability. Go read the incident history for yourself.

@wotcmatt.bsky.social Rules question:
I control both Ashling, Rekindled and Avatar Aang (front-sides), and move to main phase, putting Ashling's trigger on the stack, then turn Ashling into a copy of Aang using Fleeting Reflection. I keep the Ashling copying Aang and pay to transform. What happens?

Sora now has an opportunity to ditch AI and become a video game company. I bet shipping Kingdom Hearts 4 will be more profit than actually training/running their tool.
Disney and OpenAI sign a deal to bring 200+ Disney characters to Sora

Disney makes $1 billion investment in OpenAI and will become a "major" OpenAI customer

Someone please remind the folks at the top of GitHub and the owners at Microsoft that being the default code hosting platform is *earned* and *can be lost*. Getting the core value proposition right is *the job*.

Healthcare in the Us is so broken that we will build LLM-powered assistants to compare plans rather than offering reasonable coverage for everyone.

Huh, I wonder if a side-effect of the AI craziness might be an actual introspection at what makes a good software engineer.

It's not often that my penchant for always including "I asked X interview question which the candidate answered in <Language>" as the first line in my interview feedback is relevant, but when it is it's a huge lifesaver. (where X is an unambiguous name for the question internally at the company).

It's been so weird at my company and having some switch flip on where I'm all of a sudden older than most of my co-workers, have been working in tech longer than many of them, and being further along in relationships, housing journey, etc.

🧵A president on the roof. Sounds crazy, no? But here in our little country of America, you might say every one of us is a president on the roof, trying to create an authoritarian state without breaking his neck. It isn't easy.

Also, at the risk of coming off like a paranoid IT person, I'm not here to volunteer for voice samples to train AI on. If your robocall is recording the conversation, I absolutely do not want to contribute my voice. So yeah, you gotta say hello first to prove you're a human and not a threat vector.
I have learned that Gen Z expects the person calling to say "hello" first, instead of the person answering; upending a century of phone norms. You know what? fine, I say. Phone calls aren't what they used to be anyway www.businessinsider.com/gen-z-phone-...
Gen Z doesn't say 'hello' when answering the phone. I'm concerned.
Gen Z is making up its own etiquette rules when it comes to answering the phone. Some of them aren't saying "hello." They want you to first.

(I do not have a product to sell). If you could buy a subscription service that gave you an extra hour of sleep every night, how much would that be worth to you? I'm pretty sure I'm in the hundreds per month.

Popping over here quickly to say that you can block the outgoing requests to Gemini by adding `appsgenaiserver.*google\.com` to your pihole denylist. Also recommend adding `(\.|^)gemini\.google\.com$` just because. Google, please, just stop.

So, at the risk of angering tech folks, I find the drive towards LLM generated unit tests somewhat baffling, especially for net-new code. When I was in college, we were taught test-driven development, because tests specify what your code should actually do.

I wouldn't want an LLM written code spec.

Is anyone else just *not interested* in using AI for their writing? All accuracy and morality aside, I just don't want to. I want every last word I put on a page to have flowed out from my own body. Maybe I'm romanticizing it, but I just can't see it any other way.

Saving "effective goals are motivating, not overwhelming".
Goals in trauma recovery are not about setting up unrealistic expectations. They're about inserting into ou internal conversation the idea that life won't always be like this-- that we can effect change we explicitly choose.

Working at a B2B tech company startup is searching through your company's internal search for how to use your benefits, and finding results for your sales _to_ that company before finding results on how to use the benefit.
