I've noticed quite a few ppl hesitant to register because it's not possible to book a room yet. Is there some sort of guarantee there's a room available to book if you buy a badge? If so that might be worth announcing

My main point is that hermaphroditism as a bio concept is real (just not in humans) and even in cases where it's not (hentai, mythology, etc.) ppl are allowed to explore the concept of "dick and a vag" in art. It's not an exclusive concept, and not incompatible with real-life intersex rights

It also completely sucks if someone had herm art shoved under intersex due to a tag merge and know for a fact they didn't make their character to be intersex. Now they're either forced to represent falsely or avoid tagging that aspect at all (or remove the art in E621's case)

The logic line between "humans aren't actually hermaphrodites, but can be intersex" and "furry art depicting hermaphrodites is fetishizing intersex people" is a shakey line that should not be drawn definitively

You shouldn't just call intersex people hermaphrodites, this is completely true to be clear, but it's a flawed assumption that all herm art is even trying to be intersex to begin with. Because the answer is no, they're not. Yet some ppl quickly call it "weird fetishizing of intersex people"

Real life humans cannot actually be hermaphrodites like other creatures, that includes two fully developed and functional parts that do not occur on intersex individuals. The term used to be used for intersex ppl, caused issues, and was also inaccurate anyhow

I'm not a monolith obv, but it feels like people scream over anyone trying to say this constantly. It muddies the waters and inevitably lumps characters that are not intersex into intersex. Leaving it seperate and letting ppl self-sort prevents this to some degree

Definitely support more genders on the site, but places folding herm into intersex in an effort to try and be more progressive makes me lose my mind. They are not automatically the same thing in all instances (and I say this as an intersex person)

I try to be nice to a lot of people, for example, but I also have anxiety. I haven't pursued friendships with many I've talked to because:
A. What would we even talk about, we yapped over Jenga
B. I just don't feel we clicked
C. I don't have the social battery to match what they want from me

The only commentary I can actually give on this is that being nice to someone at an event and chatting with them doesn't...necessarily translate to a desire to continue for well after going seperate ways

The block I don't know anything about (although I am of the belief that anyone is free to block whoever for any reason if they want to), but I can't really talk much on your personal needs with friendship because they're your own
