Distraction is absolutely a legit coping tool in realistic trauma recovery. Don't think you have to meet everything head on, full speed, at all times-- it's just real important we don't substitute constant, desperate distraction for acknowledging & processing feelings & memories.

These holidays are gonna be rough for me. Second end of year holidays without my mom around. I know I blocked my dad and my sister (they're horrible, horrible people), but it's still sad to not really have family I can go to or visit with. My brother and I still talk, but the family I have are 1/2

Blows my mind that I still haven't had anyone attempt to console me over my mom dying almost two years ago besides one singular person. Shows how little the people around me care tbh. Haven't been consoled, haven't gotten to deal with the grief cause no one will let me talk about her.
