#Pottery people, I need your thoughts. This strange bubble (?) formed during the glaze firing (cone 5 electric kiln) at my community studio. This was sea mix clay with Mayco brown engobe. Three layers of Mayco Sea and Sand glaze with a light flux rim. No hint of bubble after bisque firing (cone 04).

Loaded a kiln with friends at the community studio last night. Excited to see the results in a few days. I’m trying Mayco Sand and Sea for the first time. Curious about how it will play with the other glazes I’ve got. #glaze #kilnfiring #community

This sign is giving carnival, but the station seems pretty ordinary. #mismatch

#AlaskaStateFair, why are there tip boxes in all the women’s restrooms but not the men’s restrooms?

Spotted at #Costco in South Anchorage. It’s like they heard us talking about #TraderJoes seasonal lemon torchietti pasta! What other Outside treasures will show up in #alaskancostco?

Working on my one pound wheel throwing. Getting more consistent with height, thickness and form. Trying out some slab handles instead of pulled handles. #pottery #ceramics

Trying out a new (to me) glaze on this slab built cylinder: Mayco Sand and Sea SW167. Forgot to take photos of two mugs in process. Trimmed, attached handles and painted with brown engobe. Looking forward to seeing how the Sand and Sea looks over chocolate brown.

First actual paper book I have finished in over a year. Thanks, @jomalley17.bsky.social ! I know I’m late to read it but now I’m looking forward to trying out the recipes! Loved how the book captured a sense of what it is to live in Alaska through the lens of food.

Got to try slip trailing for the first time this week. Looking forward to learning more strategies for keeping things neat and consistent. And after seven years my butter dish will finally have a lid.

The daffodils I planted last year are coming up to supplement the ones that have been here more than 20 years! They just love the heat from the foundation and this sunny south facing spot!

Signs of spring! Daffodils are opening. Fiddleheads unfolding and these unknown bulbs from long ago.

Been glazing. And a lovely friend included them in a firing today. Looking forward to results when I visit the studio next week.
