Nope. DiFi supported Drakes Bay Oyster Co. in their fight to continue their long-term lease in the Point Reyes Natl Seashore. The Natl Park Svc wanted the property to revert to nature. No shenanigans by DiFi, just taking one side in a very contentious fight.

Partisan polarization increased in the 90’s with Newt Gingrich’s scorched-earth leadership style that denigrated Dems and blocked the Dem’s ability to govern. It came on the heels of Reagan’s “Gov’t is the problem” rhetoric. Poisoned the ideal of “good government” for a lot of folks.
