One year my mom made a very fancy dessert for Thanksgiving. She put the fancy dessert platter on top of the car to buckle in my little brother, got in the car, we drove away, and the platter fell to the ground with dessert thoroughly splattered. Incidentally, the first time I heard her curse!

The Portsmouth Black Heritage Trail is working on expanding across the state, too - they have a marker up in Jaffrey, but also all over the state, like the one in the Manchester millyard explicitly stating the role of slavery in the huge textile industry in the city.

In 4th grade (the year focused on NH history), we read Amos Fortune Free Man, a very 1950 biography of Amos Fortune. He was enslaved in MA in the late 1700, bought his freedom, and lived in Jaffrey, NH where he was a tanner. If you find yourself in southwestern NH, his grave is very moving.

Scotland and Tanzania are ranked 11th and 19th for women's T20s respectively. Scotland's women will play in the world cup qualifier in early 2026; Namibia and Zimbabwe qualified for the qualifier over Tanzania so we won't get to see how TZ's women shape up in a bigger tournament - a shame.

Anyways. I know there's been concern from some corners about how an expanding field of cricket-playing countries and associate teams infiltrating tournaments etc. will bring down the overall quality of cricket, but I really don't think you have to worry too much.

Granted, neither team is facing the bowling equivalent of Archer or Starc, but 3 Tanzanian players in an associate women's t20 match made more points than any man on the Australian team did in an Ashes test (Mtae, Kibasu, Omari), and Darcy Carter made 24 points more than England's top bat.

Incidentally, over in the Women's Emerging Nations Trophy in Thailand, Scotland vs. Tanzania ended up 153/5-148/8, with both teams outscoring Australia's total over 39 overs, each in 20 overs while losing fewer wickets.
