iirc before WA's new firearms act came into full effect in April 25 we had ~360K registered guns, to date ~74K have been bought-back or seized i.e. ~20% reduction

the implementation of the stricter laws has been administratively problematic, but the legislation itself seems reasonably comprehensive

but that's specified in the screenshot?
"...according to court documents filed in Florida"
or have I misunderstood your point

yep as an Australian, the unarmed man's actions were incredibly brave but also unsurprising
only ~4% of us own guns and 'concealed carry' is illegal - the only ppl carrying guns are cops, and ofc criminals
my point being we (thankfully) don't think having a gun ourselves is "necessary" to fight back

Also no, I'm not shocked at that dude going in for the headlock and then taking the gun and being like" Now fuck off mate" because I've been to Australia

agreed
as an Australian my experience is that many ppl in the US fail to comprehend how incredibly rare mass shootings actually are here, fewer still know why our strict gun control laws were enacted in the first place
yes our strict gun control laws were enacted soon after 1996's Port Arthur massacre which, with 35 people killed, remains Australia's worst modern day mass shooting
and until today's horrific loss of 12 lives it was the ONLY mass shooting with double digit deaths for almost 30 yrs
gun control works!

US cops, sure
but you're responding to posts about an Australian mass shooting so it's important to note that most cops here, whilst far from ideal in many aspects, are quite different to US cops
the cops at Bondi didn't wait for the shooters to finish and some were shot when apprehending the gunmen

and until today's awful loss of 12 lives at Bondi Beach it was the ONLY mass shooting with double digit deaths in 30 years
gun control works

exactly.

strict gun control laws were enacted here due to public outrage after our worst modern day mass shooting in 1996
30 years later that anti-gun sentiment remains steadfast: the overwhelming majority of Australians have never even held a gun, let alone know how (or want) to fire one
we are not like you

there were two gunmen: one deceased, one now in custody. NSW police have publicly named one of the two, but haven't as yet specified whether he's the perpetrator in custody or the one who was killed. police also discovered / made safe an IED in the terrorists' car (which was parked under the bridge)
as per NSW police, there were TWO shooters: one deceased, one now in custody
if you watch the video closely it shows that after being disarmed, gunman 1 crossed the short distance back up to the bridge that gunman 2 was firing from, whereupon gunman 1 picked up another rifle and recommenced shooting

Police say there are multiple fatalities following a shooting near a Jewish gathering at Sydney's Bondi Beach. Follow live.
