Do this survey! It's fun and just takes a minute!
Hi friends, it's that time of the semester. My public opinion class has put together an original survey, and we'd be grateful if you'd take it! It should only take about 4-5 minutes to complete. virginia.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...

very much looking forward to this (virtual!) event with @hertieschool.bsky.social and Columbia World Projects, where i'll be talking how to design & govern digital platforms to promote democratic practice, incl. new thoughts on things like decentralized platforms/protocols & crowdsourced moderation!
@seejenspeak.bsky.social writes about how like physical spaces, democratic digital spaces must be clearly bounded, durable and flexible to engage citizens and sustain communities.

And the same reminder for the ITP papers. You should have received notices of acceptance/rejection last Tuesday and you need to login to accept/decline by March 20.

Shout out to Democratic Innovations - we are co-sponsoring a 🤯 panel about public deliberations on Generative AI.
Acceptances for APSA have gone out. Don't forget to log in and accept your participation before 20 March!

Delighted that the strength of submissions meant we were able to increase our allocation from 5 to 14 panels!!

It is going to be a great APSA for democratic innovations.

I've added lots of people to this Democratic Innovations Starter Pack since I last shared it.

Sorry if I missed you, it has been a busy week.

The rise and decline of participatory budgeting in Brazil. Why it happened? It may have been due to excessive institutionalization (bureaucratization), decreasing citizens' participation, and a lack of partisan support. #DemocraticInnovations

Central to the #democratic value of #minipublics is public engagement. Yet, how to generate this engagement in practice remains underexplored.
