Hmm, the subway costs track more or less with what we're seeing for the Blue Line extension. Your new bus garage is probably not as pretty as ours, but maybe it will actually meet fire safety standards for electric buses...

Multi ... billion ... dollars? So the STM is not actually the champion of wildly expensive garages? (amazingly enough, it's a NIMBY story) www.24heures.ca/2025/10/27/l...

Selfishly, I would be totally satisfied with HSR that stops anywhere near Gare de la Concorde in Laval. Failing that, maybe they can just run it through the remnants of Mirabel Airport and connect to Exo 12 St-Jérôme, which will be upgraded to GO-level service... a boy can dream...

Yeah, I think most people in urban areas in southern Québec don't bother with them either, but you don't have to go very far north of Montréal or Ottawa for them to be handy at times, more due to insane grades/curves/snow than lack of pavement per se...

Only in the North though, not even in Ottawa (which is very silly since Ottawa has a colder climate than large parts of southern Québec)

Form-based code did not help in my town... architecturally-integrated six-plexes are still viewed as "monsters" by homeowners all around them. First act of new council is a moratorium on 4-plex and above (by the new and former mayor who originally adopted said form-based code!!! 🤬)

And a climate crisis - flat roofs are generally a lot more energy efficient and much easier to make reflective in order to prevent heat islands...

Required by law in QC from 1 dec - 15 mar, plus studded tires are legal here unlike in Ontario so you don't just see them, you *hear* them!

Because the sous-chef decided that they absolutely needed to be able to negociate the size, shape, and quantity of the clams for every table in the restaurant! THE PEOPLE WANT CHOWDAH!

That's cool but not as long as the Mur-Écran de Fermont (1,3km)!

Yikes! I forgot that in the US you have ... somewhat lower standards for these things 😪 Not that we necessarily follow our standards but at least we have them! velosympathique.velo.qc.ca/ressources/a...

Here's the document: www.tac-atc.ca/wp-content/u... - it's a few years old now, I think there are some more recent studies though my recollection is that they say the same things...

the problem is how you define "more dangerous" but also that an apples-to-apples comparison makes no sense - the streets that get sharrows are inherently safer to begin with (narrower, lower speed)
