I lost count of how many times I have played DAO and DATV has grown into a comfort game for me.

Happy B-Day, Cody! ❤️

I sadly have to work today. 10hr shift and crazy volume. 🥲

So I will have to ask you to rest and enjoy some delicious food and treats for me instead. ;P

In short though, The Outer Worlds is not an IP that you will like if you don't want your worldviews questioned through a comedic lens. Capitalism and religion are just two points of many that are touched.

The incompetence of the elite in Halcyon and Arcadia is equally hilarious & terrifying. [End]

There is a lot of subtle things in The Outer Worlds narrative that promotes a lot more contemplation on quality of life in every form.

The debate between Max and Graham is honestly one of my fav moments in the entire first game.

This also includes Vicar Max. The books he was looking for to solve the equation held ideas that combated the world view that OSI & The Board promoted.
More people who read means less control.

Max wouldn't drop it so they sent him to prison saying he was just going to be the vicar.

No other reason

By the time The Captain wakes up in Halycon, the colony is about... 3 generations into The Board's indoctrination. Anyone who brings dissent or is seen as a threat to OSI or The Board is cast out into the wilderness, killed, or imprisoned in Tartarus (a prison planet).

In Halcyon, OSI and The Board worked pretty closely together to keep everyone in line and not seek better conditions to eliminate competition for higher living.
They did this through slogans, religious teachings/saying, controlling education & jobs, outrageous contracts, and controlling the media.

This is not new either and is constantly repeated throughout human history. From fuleudalism and monarchies to racism and religion.
The US political structure favours corporate lobbyist that can spin putting more money into the upper echelon's pockets in wording that seems like it helps people.

The Outer Worlds was more heavy handed at the capitalism & piss poor management digs than 2 thus far I feel, but something I really like about The Outer Worlds IP that gets talked about very little is how people in control can (and will) indoctrinate your world views to better themselves.
