- I like to use chalk and oil pastels to draw with, which are inherently messy media, so a mess is inevitable at that point.

-tend to draw from Scarry a lot more recently and didn't even necessarily realize it until looking through the post I quoted.

Granted Pokemon and also to some extent Hamtaro is also a pretty heavy influence of mine as far as how I tend to draw characters out (Sonic fanart is actually a fairly new thing to me while I've been drawing Pokemon fanart for well over a decade at this point), but content-wise I definitely-

Granted Pokemon and also to some extent Hamtaro is also a pretty heavy influence of mine as far as how I tend to draw characters out (Sonic fanart is actually a fairly new thing to me while I've been drawing Pokemon fanart for well over a decade at this point), but content-wise I definitely-
(context: I've had some family members compare my stuff to Richard Scarry's work as praise, pointing him out as a potential influence)

She uses gouache a lot, but you could substitute poster paint, which is basically lower-grade gouache.
