Was just thinking about it as timeframes are multiple and relative, fertilization to birth, birth to adolescence, to puberty, to max reproductive age, to getting old, sick, and dying. A mutation that messes up gastrulation would be disastrous but same mutation in a myocyte not so much…

Without respect to dogma this is what one should expect, no? The effect size of mutations should increase as organisms travel back through developmental time, hence the developmental hourglass and ontogeny recapitulating phylogeny — mutations that would kill a zygote are tolerable to an adult 🧪
