So for most of my life I have seen Americans casually denigrate Asia, Asians and really any culture that doesn’t have similar values to theirs.

And then they go and elect that stupid cocksucker?

Second coffee of the day, listening to Britney Spears’ Lucky on the radio - quickly looked to see why it was on the oldies channel, and … it’s 25 years old.

Did a Google search for how to light a candle and got over a million matches.

These people are sick. Trying to make fine distinctions to excuse his behaviour.

It's rape. He's a rapist, you stupid fucks.

And he raped children.

I shouldn’t have read this first thing in the morning, but I'm glad I read it. You should read it, too.
Reading 2025 fiction?

Try the short story "10 Visions of the Future; or, Self-Care for the End of Days" by Samantha Mills @samtasticbooks.com!

You can read it here!

As though anyone needs convincing to read Wiswell.
Convincing you to read my novel with the first sentence. Share yours if you want.

(Here's the opening of "Wearing The Lion.")

Ohh, more of the The Gulp. I loved the first two books because I have a passing familiarity with rural Australia.

You should try them.

Like ... Night Vale, if it was Aussie.
THE RISE: Tales From The Gulp 3 is coming in February 2026, so it's a great time to catch up on vol 1 and 2.

Signed paperbacks of THE GULP and THE FALL, sent anywhere in Australia, only $50 shipping inc.

Only in Aus, I'm afraid. And please do spread the word.

More deliberate media consumption day two, not letting the algorithm deliver stuff to my eyeballs

I'm reading a bunch of articles that I'd saved in Raindrop.io (and transferred to Instapaper) on my Kobo.

Last night, I took all the extraneous apps off my phone.

This morning, I wore my earplugs instead of earphones. I read a book instead of scrolling social media while listening to podcasts.

By the time I got to school, I finished the book I was reading.

I think it's just called Good Guys. I finished it, and can confirm that it is a Good Book.
Returning to Steven Brust’s The Good Guys. It’s unusual. The story’s told mostly through dialogue.

In my head it’s easier to pay for a content/streaming subscription than to pay for access to software functionality (e.g. I’d rather pay for Netflix than Microsoft Office).

I don’t know why that is.

“… repudiation of American cultural exports …”

What a lovely phrase.

I wouldn’t care as much if the coming Big Beautiful Depression (and the Popping of the AI Bubble) didn’t put me and mine at risk.

Oops. It’s called MicroMacro: Downtown Detective.

Absolutely exhausted after scouring the city to find out where some sleeping pills (a possible murder weapon) were obtained in MicroMacro: Digital Detective.
