I know that some folks feel that they get revitalized by debate and all that but the internet isn't a structured, shared recreational debate club. Some folks are just arguing constantly, fighting constantly, addicted to conflict and anger and it's just... sad

It feels like the author learned that new fragments in a dialogue represent a response or new speaker and took that to mean "you can't ever have a new fragment unless it's led with speech".

It's driving me fucking bonkers.

The second way is the one they always choose! Always! No matter how long the context is!

Like, is it technically "grammatically correct"? Probably. But it feels weird and awkward and stilted. I have to skip back in my mind and revise the image that my brain generated, almost every time!

Like, there are multiple ways to formulate context for a given line of dialogue and they consistently seem to choose the weird one.
