John adams also said "the Constitution was made for a moral and religious people". The idea Adams would be okay with most of the govt right now is hilarious

And running extremely large deficits or rapidly increasing taxes effects everyone too. Neither are great, I just think my idea is the lesser of 2 evils. You're free to disagree though
December 12, 2025 at 7:29 PM
Sorry to hear that, sounds like it all worked out for you though

The budget of other countries with universal care also have extremely regressive tax systems to support it. As well as extremely strict immigration laws. If you want to have closed boarders and make the top bracket 1.1 times the average income like the nordics, be my guest.

It doesn't matter what you are to be honest. Man women dog, we are in a major deficit and even if we had just social, medicare, medicaid and interest payments, we would still have a deficit. Maybe you're a modern monetary theory devotee and think deficits don't matter. There's no evidence for that
December 12, 2025 at 7:25 PM
And you won't listen to S africans? I don't understand your picture...are you saying you're racist?

Already here my dude, life is pretty good

Canada literally has 3 times the amount of measles cases despite their smaller population compared to the US lmfao

How Canada became the centre of a measles outbreak in North America
Confirmed cases of measles in Canada are nearly three times higher than in the US, despite Canada's far smaller population.

If we cut ALL federal programs except social, medicare, medicaid and interest on the debt we would STILL be running a deficit. You're a smart guy, a software engineer. The math isn't hard. You can "trim the fat" on the military or the park or education, but it doesn't matter.
December 12, 2025 at 6:32 PM
Federal revenue is at an all time high, as you can see the problem is the spending. Social + medicare/aid are nearly 50% of the budget. They need to be cut back, which is not popular. But it will happen soon and hurt or happen later and hurt much much more. There is no getting around it.

Im jealous you retired early! Sounds like you had a good gig there! I've got enough experience to know it's not fair for gen z to pay for young boomers to retire early and collect benefits. I know that much. Sounds like you did it right and paid for it yourself
December 12, 2025 at 6:05 PM
And no, it's not a small cost. It's almost half a trillion dollars over 10 years. That's pretty significant
December 12, 2025 at 2:18 PM
And yes, the subsidies expiring will force people to work longer. That is good. If you want to retire early, that's awesome, go for it! But I shouldn't have to pay for your health insurance. I'm in my 20s, why don't I just retire and collect some health insurance too?
December 12, 2025 at 2:18 PM
I think you're still not understanding me. I say "early retirees" meaning those under 64 who don't qualify for medicare. And then you say "well what about retirees? They don't earn much". I'm not talking people over 64. The ACA subsidies most effects EARLY retirees who don't yet qualify for medicare

Okay?

They like tourist, there still ain't much to do there.
December 12, 2025 at 1:37 PM
Read this and then get back to me. Were talking about early retirees here, youre simply misunderstanding me.

This couple is. Tell me, are you or are you not okay with this? Early retirees traveling and getting subsidies for healthcare? Im not.

Republicans getting the house back is the only reason we dont currently have a 10% + inflation rate right now, so consider yourself lucky
December 12, 2025 at 1:34 PM
That's great and Im happy you got more time with your mom. That's still not an argument to pay for early retirees health insurance who earn 100K+ in pension for them to jet set around.
December 11, 2025 at 5:52 PM
I'm not saying work till you die. Im saying work until you get to retirement age, then you can get medicare. It's not my problem if you retire early and then get sick. Its sad and I don't wish it on anyone, but we have retirement ages for a reason.

If you want more affordable, better healthcare the solution is more private market and more competition. There has been nothing that the government got involved with and made more efficient or better.
