Part of why it would be fun imo is that the Greek cities pretty rarely fully subdue each other just because of their limited ability to do long term war making and sieges. Just lots of unstable leagues and alliance networks. Very chaotic and fun

It sort of makes sense that even if the city's actual status was long gone at bare minimum it would be a decent place to set up just because you could easily repair the old acropolis into a defensible position (which they did)
