Do you...know how quickly Newsom will abandon you and almost any progressive principle in order to satisfy his corporate backers?

Do you have any idea how many progressive pieces of legislation he's vetoed in his two terms as governor?

He's all suit and no substance. Democrats can do far better

OP could only be said by someone who does not actually know the history.

I'm pretty sure "tied for fifth place" did pretty well at establishing this

And we can't even put this thread in the Louvre of Bluesky.

I've seen far bigger boats turn around in under an hour.

So yes, you could turn the Titanic around overnight

May God preserve life, liberate the oppressed, and bring peace to Venezuela.

May the authorities in the United States of America truly work toward the common good and welfare of all, and not merely their own narrow interests.

... you will invariably find a previous administration undermining or overthrowing the governments of those nations in order to maintain a government more friendly to American interests (= allowing us to exploit them and their resources, keeping them in poverty and hindering their development)
January 3, 2026 at 10:29 PM
- historically, when you trace back whatever problems and challenges attend to Central and South American nations which have seen a lot of immigration to the United States, and whose immigrants have been seen as a flash point in our current culture ways...

In the "best case" scenarios, the nation would go through a series of coups and government changes before reaching some kind of equilibrium.

At worst, nations have suffered under whatever far right dictatorship we installed to serve as client for our economic interests
January 3, 2026 at 10:29 PM
Sure, whatever bad guy / guy we don't want in charge anymore had his problems, and the nation suffered under them, but generally the nation has suffered as much or worse under future regimes following the wake of American interventions.
January 3, 2026 at 10:29 PM
- despite whatever rhetoric is promoted, the nations in which we have intervened in the past were not made "more free" and were not truly "liberated."
January 3, 2026 at 10:29 PM
- despite whatever rhetoric is promoted, American intervention in the government of other nations is almost always economically motivated, seeking to advance the interests of American financial interests and to exploit the potential resources of the country in which we are intervening

I thought Bluesky was for doom scrolling about how apocalyptic and awful everything is
