Once again, we are way too relaxed about the fact that "shooting Irish people is good actually" is a mainstream political position on the neighbouring island.

"structural inequalities" is doing some amount of heavy lifting here
Few scholars today would accept this view, or accuse the British government of genocide. There is no archival evidence of a deliberate, organised attempt to starve the Irish population, forcibly displace them or destroy their means of survival. Historians instead tend to view the famine as the product of deep-rooted structural inequalities compounded by the government’s disastrous short-term policies.
