That being *in addition* to all my normal gear, my own rifle, and my own ammunition. I wasn't even carrying the machinegun, I was the assistant gunner.
The actual machinegunner only carried about 200 rounds.

I spent the last two years of my career on a machinegun team, and for every thousand rounds of belt you want, that's another whole person you need to bring with you. Shit's heavy, and it takes up space.
Most I ever carried was about 500 for a GPMG, and that shit weighed me down pretty good.

Helicopter crews in the CF are trained to fire in 100 round bursts, and just use the entire belt all at once during a strafe, and if the enemy was significantly concentrated or dug in, it might be conceivable to do similar on the ground, but that will burn a lot of resources, so it better be good.

a little extra spice. Usually at the very start of a fight, when you launch an ambush, or during the defence when the enemy is launching an attach or getting too close with "F-P-F" (Final Protective Fire).
Longer, near-continuous bursts are also possible in limited circumstances.

Saying it is honestly more useful, since seeing the tracers can sometimes be difficult. Bursts will frequently be off by a round and end up being 4 or 6 just because human hands are involved in the process.

~90% of the time you'll be firing in normal rate, but rapid comes around when you need-

It's 'variable' but the standards I were taught were 5 rounds for normal rate, and 10 for rapid rate.
You can measure them visually, because every 5th round is a tracer in a "Four-BIT" belt (4 ball 1 tracer), but you can also do it verbally by saying "Sonofabitch" or "Sonofabitchfuckingdie".

Don't need it.
Set the RPM to the lowest and don't think of it like a machinegun. Short bursts. Long range. That's all you need.

Neither do I. I see it on YT.
The thing is a fucking AMR with hundreds of rounds. What's not to love?

Have you never heard the swarms of people saying that it's not good for anything, and being confidently wrong? Because I have.

...Probably not... It wasn't really theirs to begin with, but you can do the whole human creativity thing and build something on the same concept to do it better.
