In some slightly unorthodox Ainu-related news, the 2026 "Japan Fursuit Creators’ Competition" concluded last week, with the Artistry Award going to Hokkaido-based maker Subtra for a suit called Tukar (Ainu for seal) - a cat-seal hybrid featuring Ainu motifs.

JMoF was amazing this year. Definitely outshined last year. It was great to meet so many new people, and meet with old friends too!
Plus as someone who doesn’t think of himself as a party person, suiting at the rave must’ve awakened something because I stayed out until 2am today doing karaoke!

Great to see Zootopia 2 on opening night as I also saw the first film on opening night.
Maybe a little heavy-handed with some of the references but overall a fun movie!
Japanese cinema goers are so well mannered! Nobody left until the lights came on and they left the theatre spotless.
