It's crazy how the wokists of 1918 have decided to give foreigners the vote in UK general elections.

Ever so often I come across old D-Mark coins. I tend to think „cool, it’s been a while“ and forget about them again about 3 minutes later until the next time i see one.

Mighty glad my wife got her first UK passport post Brexit (never felt the need before). Was quite the hassle, needed vouching by a reputable British acquaintance. Otherwise, this summer this German and his kids would be able to visit Cornwall but my half-Cornish wife could not…

The only other truly regional one with some electoral success that comes to my mind is SSW in Schleswig-Holstein (Danish minority party).

"But that's not what makes a responsible politician—conducting opinion polls to find out what's popular, what resonates, and then representing what's popular. The task of a politician is to do the right thing and make it popular."

As Walter Scheel said in 1970:

"Aber das macht nicht den verantwortungsbewussten Politiker aus, Meinungsforschung zu treiben, um zu wissen, was populär ist, was ankommt, und dann das Populäre zu vertreten. Die Aufgabe des Politikers ist es, das Richtige zu tun und es populär zu machen."

Mr Brexit is topping the polls and we all know that you don’t need actual majorities of voters to get maximum power in the UK.

The TCA can be terminated with 12 months notice. About a third of the popular vote could give Farage enough seats to do just that

Not worth spending time on this from the EU end as long as Reform are in contention of winning the next election, is there?

Polling also had suggested that Mr Brexit might become PM after the next election. Membership won’t be feasible as long as long as there isn’t internal consensus in the UK and a third of the vote can get you a strong majority

I had to get to almost 40 to get a fourth German Chancellor (which is not great either I'd say)

And of course staying in the SM was never a negotiation objective of any UK government during that time anyway

I guess he gets that reception because Trump would‘ve been more likely to say „shush, piggy“ and people just enjoy the positivity

These people actually read and understood the Niemöller poem

I always noted how they got away with the prorogation with any resignations whatsoever. In my view, that act is on a very similar level to what Trump tried on J6.

Imagine having enough money to make a real dent in ending world hunger and choosing to starve more children instead

That’s exactly what the border people tell my wife to do. UK passport for the Brits, German passport for the French at the ferry ports

Shame, maybe this time Germany would beat Italy in the semi final.
