A hand holding a clump of green leaves with some brown spots. On one leaf is an endangered Achatinella sowerbyana snail. It is smaller than the nails of the fingers holding the leaf. The first whirls of the snail’s shell from the aperture are yellow green and the whirls at the apex of the cone shaped shell are white, all with a brown edge that follows the spiral grooves.

There is a lot going on that’s out of my control and sometimes feels overwhelming. I’ve started darning holes in my socks to give my brain breaks from it all (and also I haven’t gotten paid in over a month). You can probably guess which sock was done after I had a two day long migraine versus not. 🧶

Me! Standing on a platform in front of "Big Tree", a massive coast redwood. I'm holding my arms out wide to emphasize what a teeny tiny itty bitty baby I am next to this giant tree. A sign says Big Tree is 286 feet tall, 23.7 feet in diameter, 74.5 feet in circumference, and an estimated 1500 years old.
