We didn't qualify this year but the team is looking forward to iterating on their current design and possibly building a second robot for our upcoming off-season event KCMT (Kendrick Castillo Memorial Tournament)

Lol, we wish. They're composite rollers sold as collapsible boat hooks. We built a custom drum and compliant wheel assembly that unrolls and retracts them.

We had similar concerns and were lucky enough to have a FRC alum volunteer to fabricate metal replacements for our entire PVC reef.

Java has the most vendor support which is why we use it. Wouldn't be opposed to Python if it had the same :)

I hope to see more vendor libraries expand to support c++ and python in the future.

We used straps as well last year but since this year all of our electrical will be beneath the robot, we opted for enclosing it to avoid fighting gravity :)
