The star trek of it all is very alluring, but it erases any opportunity for human expertise to intervene to correct errors. When a student puts your lecture into the LLM themselves, they can still intervene at points where it's clear the to failed *bc* they still have the original context.

I just had a really interesting convo about this after hearing a rumor that faculty somewhere were making deep fakes of themselves lecturing in languages they didn't speak

because it is still changing the nature of the interaction from "evaluate possibilities and draw a conclusion" to "ask for an answer and receive it"
The LLM actively reduces the available context for the information it provides, which is bad.

But even worse, it *trains people to accept information without context*

We have such a fragmented media culture - i love this! I always wonder what is like with my parent friends when everyone on the family has different media everything. Such a cool way to maintain shared space.
