This should be great for all the winding mountain roads in the Okanagan!

That will be some interesting IP they'll own. Harry Potter and Superman could be in the same universe!

It's not an option. We're ALL playing ;)

But how much time on IRC? :P

And replace them with...? It's not just the parties that are the problem - it's the entire system.

You got yourself some food grade gold there.

Doesn't sound like you've done much looking into it.

Regardless, I'm not here to argue for UBI... But I don't hear any other suggestions from you... Other than "let's pretend this isn't happening".

Never in our history has that been a good idea.

Also, UBI is not communism.

Nope. They will not have a sudden revelation. I suspect it will be a very violent thing. But we're not there yet. Too many are still too comfortable.

We will have to reimagine our entire economic and social systems. And the existing ones will not go away easy, so things are going to get WAY worse than they are now before they get better.
November 27, 2025 at 7:32 PM
You're 100% correct. But these people are, for the most part, just now starting to think about this and realize it's not science fiction and it's not far future. There's a whole level of existential dread they're just experiencing now. It will take some time for them to wrap their heads around it.
November 27, 2025 at 6:50 PM
That doesn't change any of what I said.

So what's your solution? Keep your head in the sand and just hope it all works out okay? Pretend like this isn't happening and it'll all go away?

This genie is not going back in the bottle and things are going to get so much worse before they get better.
November 27, 2025 at 2:52 PM
If you think that will help at all I don't know what to tell you. Our system is what's going to need to change. UBI or something similar. This isn't going anywhere.

That said, it will get better and more efficient so at least it's not as destructive.

That's not entirely true. No one is forcing it on me... But I can use it to be a one-man software development company with multiple clients and I find it incredibly useful, despite that it absolutely is replacing development jobs.
