It appears they will have to amend regulations under the ADA, the ABA, and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. This may take a while to become a whole of government thing.

How is a font wasteful? If anything the only wasteful thing is not using the current default of Aptos (fka Bierstadt), which replaced Calibri in 2023. Aptos is also more accessible than either of them but either is much better than a nearly 100-y.o. font designed for print.
