No one misses z-sorting
You'd have playstation characters with huge ugly gaps at the knees and shoulders, because artists would keep getting bug reports of 'flashing' polygons. An idle animation would play and half their kneecap would go peek-a-boo for 5 frames on and 5 frames off.

Speaking as someone who built characters for the N64 and PSX back in the day, this is super accurate.
Maybe a little more N64 than Playstation, but that's mostly because getting the z-sort to behave on PSX was a nightmare so sub object intersections would be simplified.

And I speak as someone whose regular VR rig has been a second hand meta quest pro.
But that's sideloaded, using a burner dev account.
And I got it because it's eye tracking allowed foveated streaming on steam link.
Which, seriously, is a big deal.
