I agree. I think the message should be something along the line of investment in the grid is needed, but it can’t stop there. His other points are spot on.

Samsung, LG, and Whirlpool have combo heat pump units available. Electrolux is available in the US but not the combo units for some reason.

I first experienced one on a trip to Paris. Really liked the idea of not having to remember to move the clothes to the dryer. I have a notification set up in Home Assistant when the washer finishes but it still gets missed sometimes. Unfortunately I can’t find a Electrolux combo in the US.

Which unit did you get? We are considering getting one to bring down my electric dryer costs/energy usage. I just installed heat pumps for the house and water heater. I was finally able to kick natural gas to the curb.

I have two of those and I love them.

I have not done this yet, but I believe the newer Shelly switch controllers can act as bluetooth repeaters to Home Assistant. Allows you to automate the lights in the room as well.

Makes sense. Might be able to do something easier with a shortcut from the Mac to Home Assistant.

Is there a reason you want to desktop app? On my desktops I just use a dedicated link to the web interface. The iOS app is great and works well for notifications which I believe you can mirror on your Mac.

I am curious if the data had anything to do with your neighbor moving or just a vindication that it was not just minor issue.

Well it would need to communicate reliably to be hackable

Actually it had no security. I had to put a filter on my electrical panel to keep out neighbors setup signals from messing with my stuff.

If it has a remote control it might be able to be controlled by the LinknLink

Yeah I am so disappointed in my Nest/Google Home stuff. I think LinknLink makes some inexpensive stuff that works to control air conditioners locally with Home Assistant via MQTT.

Welcome to the rabbit hole!

Sorry to hear about this. I so miss Fred Meyers since I moved to Colorado.

I agree. I love my Home Assistant Yellow with a large NVMe because it is super reliable and simple. I screw up my setups enough that I don’t need hardware issues adding to it 😂
