Rusted Moss has a setting of technology meets folk tales; that's what got me to pick it up at first. But what hooked me in (hah ha!) is the grappling hook bungee cord mechanic. It's physics-based and lets you explore ahead of where you're "supposed" to be.

My dad told me that his chemistry professor at university was a Russian who, when asked how to identify different chemicals, told him "you taste them? How else?".

Chewing coffee beans sounds downright healthy in comparison.

An okay winrate, but I'm still really slow to adapt and get gimmicked out a lot. Also way too reliant on anti-air perfect parry.

You know, it didn't cross my mind before, but now I'm wondering what the most unethical shampoo is. Is it children's blood? I hear that's popular with the ultra-rich.

A friend of mine once told me about a time he worked a ballet production as a sound engineer, and they were at a bar after finishing. Some drunk walked up and punched one of the dancers in the gut to absolutely zero effect, and then silently left the bar.

Visually it's unrivaled. Style-wise I don't think it's every been better. The simultanous events-thing it does is also a great idea. Battles and even menus are a pain just because of how sluggish they feel, but ultimately the story presentation got the most in my way. Liked it, but less than 7&8.

I'm not great at shmups, but I've 1cc'd a number of touhou games on Normal at least. But let me tell you: Normal does *not* prepare you for Hard. You have to learn new ways of thinking and moving. CC's modes were a lot better considered. In that regard at least.

I just finished playing FF9, which I've only played parts of a long time ago, and I have to say, it kind of feels like it was written this way. FF8 also does, but in that case it, maybe accidentally, achieves a dream-like quality whereas 9 just felt like ideas struggling in different directions.

...and eventually you get back to the first person at which point it either starts over or ends, depending on how long it's intended to go on for, then you read it. It'll of course end up chaotic and incoherent, but usually quite funny and sometimes insightful about how everyone in the group thinks.

So you don't end up going on a journey to lift the curse, or find a sword to slay the dragon as much, which to me is a shame. In Elden Ring I can understand it since it might take a very long time to find a solution, but I also don't think that game size-scaled great to begin with.

This is taste of course, but I still think Demon's/Dark Souls are the best for getting The Experience. In those games you have to go somewhat out of your way to find the "broken" stuff. In 3/Elden a lot of it is right in your path.

I've played many other games since and the difficulty curve is rarely, if ever, that well-considered. Even on Novice there was action all the time. In other shmups they just rip things out and it just ends up feeling tepid and empty.

I came to love bullet hell through Crimzon Clover, and I definitely started with Novice mode. The thing is though, CC's difficulties are a lot like DMC's. By the time you finish Normal you're ready for Hard. By the time you finish Hard you're ready for Very Hard. They weave into each other.

I have a few games to go through first, but this is on my shortlist. I've heard many good things.

You know, there's quite a number of high-effort classic castlevania-style games, but I don't remember ever seeing someone take a crack at NES Batman.

If I were to give a serious answer, I think the name is so tied to the game's themes that it couldn't be the reverse.

It just seemed like an interesting crowd control piece to have, say, a move that is easy to land to knock enemies away, but lets them get up right away. And a slower move that forces them to stay down. But I've never actually considered if that was a thing or not already.
