Narrowboats, flowers, gardening, proper pubs, Portugal, inland waterways, good food, cross-stitching, cats, literature, fun, good company and wine.
The garden back at the end of October, still some colour but definitely end of season. 🌱 A much warmer day here today. Really must crack on with writing Xmas cards.

More sock progress, I present to you sock number one with almost finished sock number three and the start of sock number four. I am currently wearing sock number two on my good foot. The other one is still in plaster after an operation to fix it. 🧶

A late October fuchsia in my garden. All gone now in late November, they don’t survive the frost. 🌱

Have been visiting my parents, it has been a very welcome break away from my confinement on the boat whilst my foot is in plaster. This is Mum’s Christmas cactus which usually starts flowering from now until January 🌱.

Another heavy frost, has definitely finished the hanging baskets for this year. 😕🌱 will definitely look out for these next year, they flowered so well and for so long.

Don’t look now! I have started another pair of socks! 🫣🧶

The joy of self striping wool!

A lucky spot in Lidl. The wool just fell into my basket 😉

I did it! Knitted my first ever pair of socks. Go me! Very chuffed 😊 🧶
November 19, 2025 at 1:30 PM
Wet slushy snow, it won’t last long.
November 19, 2025 at 8:56 AM
Just look at the state of that poor begonia at the bottom. It used to look like this.

The grass here has now gone white, quite a few minutes after this video. I am in the Chilterns.

That’ll be the end of the hanging baskets then 🤨 First we had frost and now this! 🌨️☃️🌱
November 19, 2025 at 8:24 AM
Just in case you were wondering how I have been getting along today. 🧶
November 18, 2025 at 3:51 PM
On this cold and frosty morning I give you a sunny perennial sunflower 🌻 from before the frost. I suspect there’ll be none left after last night. Have a lovely day everyone 😁🌱

Thought I would give you an update on my sock knitting 🧶
November 17, 2025 at 3:54 PM
With the change in the weather this week and overnight frost we’ll be saying goodbye to the nasturtiums for this year. They’ve had a good long season. 🌱
November 17, 2025 at 8:54 AM
More sock progress, currently working the heel on sock two. 🧶
November 16, 2025 at 12:46 PM
I know these have a proper name but I can never remember it, the name I have in my head is Chinese fuchsia. Anyhow, the bush flowered really well this year, only just finished. 🌱

I forgot to post a flower pic earlier, I was too excited about the prospect of my first proper shower since my foot op. Anyhow, I feel wonderful now, and I had a trip out for lunch too with beloved OH. Managed fine on crutches now that I am allowed to put my bad foot down. Have a happy flower 😁 🌱

Second sock on the way and pattern matched to the first one. What a wet and miserable day this has been thanks to Storm Claudia. Definitely a day for staying cozy indoors knitting 🧶
