not an early adopter. as far as you know. lurking on the socials since… never mind. here now.
This visit she told me a rare story of three boys who had crushes on her when she was a teacher. I wonder what made her think of them. The memories were vivid.

This one I cut to freshen the vase in her room. She hasn’t seen her garden in years and barely recalls what she planted. But she remembers the chico, atis and avocado trees she grew up with in Mohon when she lived with her lola.

same. so I remind myself to keep showing up for others. when we do, we find resilience in community. joy in connection. we have 362 arbitrary days left in a constructed time constraint. imagine how 2026 will be a gift 🧡

for one future among many 🙃
don’t worry, in the way camping was invented for humans to practice being pre-industrial, we have agency to practice the slow crafts. it’s great to stretch their imaginations in more directions.

am i alone in anticipating Tim’s post about how he did 7 of 8 on his own list? i mean it wasn’t hard to imagine

If I wasn’t already so over committed… but I’m putting this discord on my 2026 reminders :)

Rick, I haven’t watched it yet, but deeply admire the self awareness of this post. Seasons greetings 🎅

It resonates, especially the stories of human connection that will be remembered long after a store brand is forgotten. After climbing the ladder, falling off, and getting back up to continue my own journey, my dream job looks a lot like cutting fabric and asking the customer what she’s making.

I still sew, and craft, and diy, repurpose, upcycle. The thing that fabric taught me was what Leigh describes: sometimes you have to feel it to know how to use it, and how not.

I built my early career in those industries with 5 companies that no longer exist, and the ones that survive are in continuous reorg. A less desirable continuous thing. I lived the drive to be a category killer and witnessed its inevitable end. Innovate to dominate is burnout fuel.

saw this the other day and it stuck with me... and both things can be true www.youtube.com/watch?v=wt5e...

…the enshittification continues? we talk about it happening with technology and software, but I don’t even think it’s that new. it’s any system that was sold as innovation for our collective convenience, but mostly is just a way to funnel profits to fewer people

Watching the recording 😊 about halfway through, you talked about finops for ai without ever mentioning finops, and I agree the startup energy heating up in that area. AI cost visibility is the risk mitigating prerequisites to scale.

But Rick, where do you think the algorithm learned that behavior?

I feel like nuclear holocaust belongs on this list, but then maybe that was on the side of rational fears.🤷🏻‍♀️
