was AMAZING (but no textures, 30fps), to Ridge Racer with texture mapping, 60fps display, it was remarkable. That's my thoughts though as someone who adores RR greatly in all forms and almost all games.

At the time though, in 1993, RR was truly revolutionary in the arcades. It moved EVERYTHING on significantly at one time; 3D performance, textures, lighting, track design, analogue controls, AI, music, feel. Everything. We went from games like Drivers Eyes, which was fine, and Virtua Racing, which

handling, entering drift, regaining traction and so forth. It's hard to play now, feels harder than ever after the years of progression and evolution in the RR handling model. However, playing the RR1 arcade port on Arcade Archives on PS5, Switch 2, is a true delight and much more playable.

It looked better, had further draw distance, and smoother framerate than Daytona, but it was the SEGA game that felt closer in terms of handling on the digital inputs of either d-pad. ...the Arcade Archives release of the original arcade game.- the first time RR arcade has been available on console. That game plays very differently to the PS1 game. The PlayStation port was a huge technical feat in 1994 that was a truly mind blowing experience. Compared to Saturn Daytona USA

Hey! I think the thing to ask is are you playing the PlayStation port? This was such an interesting game at the time because it gave you the arcade experience in the home.. Sort of. I loved this game on PS1, I played an absolute load of it there, and arcade, and more recently...

Yeah that’s pretty much it, A and B choice. One had higher speed when using ‘Jets’ (boost). The other falls off corners easier 😅
