Chromosomes with a red glowing spot to indicate genetic variation. DECIPHER is EMBL's database for genetic and phenotypic data, which helps further our understanding of rare diseases. EMBL-EBI data resources help deliver thousands of genetic diagnostics to patients every month. Eye with genomic data and optical coherence tomography (OCT) image in the background. Image and genomic data analysis uncovered new information about rare retinal dystrophies.

I remember blushing with excitement, as my colleague Yehudi Bloch at EMBL Hamburg was telling me about all about the quirkiness of this cute protein.
