I've just checked PIA and it does have Bangladesh. Kazakhstan is the closest I can see to Russia. I assume sanctioned countries are harder to run servers in

Yeah, I'm dubious of the VPN theory. I've not come across a VPN that offers the option to route through places like Russia (or Russian affiliated countries) or Bangladesh.
