Wasn't a bad movie, really. A bit quiet and slow to start off, but it builds.

"...gloomy-eyed J.B. never tells us what he's after, but we sense that he's one of those quiet men who feel trapped in middle-class life and are prepared to chew off their paw to escape it."

Still thinking about the Louvre? 'The Mastermind' is about a museum heist gone awry
An unemployed cabinet maker robs the local art museum — then finds himself plunged into a world of cops and gangsters and life on the run. The Mastermind is a sad movie that gets stronger as it goes.

A fungus photo a day: I found these Ossicaulis yesterday on some small pieces of rotting wood, so I could pick them up to photograph (and then put them carefully back). The delicate details on these tiny guys… More photos below.

My favorite recent book is a Canadian/Métis/indigenous werewolf/Rogarou mystery/supernatural/thriller. if you're interested in indigenous history and folklore it's informative in a fun way. It's thrilling & a bit scary. A cracking good story.

I can't wait. The movie can't possibly be as good as the audiobook narrated by Ray Porter, but I still can't wait to see it.

I'm glad they're thinking about making The Stand into a movie. I didn't watch the TV adaptation after I heard they changed the scenes about Vegas into a "city of sin" kind of setting, instead of a repressive religious place. The story was good as it is.

I think I'd risk my life for a book like All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson, Flamer by Mike Curato, or Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe, but I haven't read them yet

I've read them, and I'd fight for Fun Home, Are You There God, It's Me Margaret, The Diary of a Young Girl, and Handmaid's Tale

Great book. Funny. Insightful. I liked the married couple a lot. Nice twist in the story.

Lesson learned.

Do not stop for bagels in downtown Minneapolis unless I find a parking spot on the street. I paid $8 for 20 minutes of parking in a public garage.

Good bagels, but not that good. 🥯

I see some discourse about ditching the former Twitter, and so I'll remind folks that the best reason to there is that it's a fucking Nazi bar and we all deserve better. I'm on social media to enjoy conversation with cool folks. Bluesky does a bang-up job of that. The former Twitter doesn't.

I got to see Life of Chuck last night as the Secret Movie at my local theater. I highly recommend it. It starts with a dystopian future & goes backwards. There's a real sense of hope in it somehow.

Friends, don't be this person.

Everything is terrible, and we need to enjoy what we can, when we can, so that we aren't too emotionally and physically exhausted to show up and fight against the fascists.

Allowing space for entertainment doesn't mean we care less about the horrors.

I love Peter David's Mackenzie Calhoun books. Mac has purple eyes. 💜👁️💜

ST novels were an antidote for me for the Harlequin novels my family read like popcorn. Star Trek women are generals and security officers, and basically whatever they want to be. I still read ST novels for relaxation.

Farewell to author Peter David, a prolific writer of #StarTrek novels and comic books alike.

His presence can be felt all over "beta canon", with his Brikar species even jumping to screen canon with #StarTrekProdigy!

In #StarTrekOnline, his character of Mackenzie Calhoun resides on Deep Space K-7.
