Only the least empathic of people would choose this week to declare that the thing UK immigration enforcement officers most need is to do away with the pesky laws that they have to abide by. We absolutely do not need to trample over existing laws to deport people. We’ve seen how that can go wrong.

I think a good strategy for your non-leftist social media presence (ie everywhere but here) is to give this photo - the remains of Danish soldiers returning in coffins after being killed in America's war in Afghanistan - as wide an audience as possible. Remind people who we're betraying

Do we know for sure that our trident missiles would even work if we were in conflict with USA? Do we know for certain that they couldn’t be detonated in situ? If Trump is prepared for his militias to murder US citizens with “absolute immunity” we can’t expect that he’d think twice about anything.
An emotional response to Trump’s bullying over Greenland will not protect Ukraine, the UK or the rest of Europe. unilaterally abandon trident risks making a bad situation worse- we need to focus on how to strengthen, not weaken our alliances and our allies, and that means prioritising the EU.
