Favorite example of this is tiktoks where they take the laugh track out of old comedies

Zero idea what music you like, but I immediately thought of ”All Mine” by Doja cat as doing this

I’m assuming through machine learning. Google Deepmind did this in 2016, but that ended up being a 15% savings once other factors were included. Not sure how you get to 6-7x

DeepMind AI Reduces Google Data Centre Cooling Bill by 40%
Reducing energy usage has been a major focus for us over the past 10 years: we have built our own super-efficient servers at Google, invented more efficient ways to cool our data centres and invested…

LLM's and SQL are really cool. Also straight up translation of data has always been its strong suit. If companies just stopped pushing generative image/video slop, I don't think there would be such a visceral reaction to the technology.

So wait, it’s a city program managed by Lyft? Then why are the operating costs not public information?

Also at what point did I say this was something people should purchase? It’s $400 by the way, maybe if you read the article you’d know that.

Making a knife that can do 40000 vibrations per second without hearing it isn’t tech nerdiness? the fuck are you talking about?
September 24, 2025 at 11:10 PM
JFC we’re arguing about a product that neither of us have even used in the real world. All I’m saying is don’t shit on ideas with lazy “tech guy makes thing”. This isn’t ads on your fridge, it’s actually an attempt to solve a real problem in a novel way.

Could (and might and maybe should) fail.

That opinion ignores several points made in the video:

- guy is interested in taking industrial innovations and making them available to consumers
- has down a large comparison on other knives and his own with vibration on and off
- talks about knife safety and how this tries to alleviate that

THEN DONT BUY IT! By the way, I’m not buying it either, I have a decent chefs knife I love and keep sharp.

The original post was a lazy pile on about the tech industry, and they deserved the call outs they got in the replies

Promote not prompre*

Everyone on this thread: please read the article and watch the video. This is the kind of tech nerdiness that we should prompre.

Also hate the insinuation that we can’t have cool things because it isn’t accessible. This isn’t a public building, it’s a consumer product. choose something else then.
