Animator from the Arcane series at Fortiche. Some other projects include Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and The Secret Life of Pets. I also like to write.
I really hope someone ports the de-muskifier browser extension to safari. It’s so good. I prefer seeing raccoons in the news…

In fact, an extension that targets all images with certain alt-text / keywords would make the internet a far nicer place.

Irritated by the news lately? Try these browser extensions:

Make America Kittens Again - replaces all images of Trump with cats.

De-Muskifier - replaces all instances of Elon Musk with Raccoons.

Then a text replace extension for the rest.

Looks like coffee is gonna be expensive. Here are some cheap coffee substitute ideas from the 18th century, according to the time traveler’s guide to Regency Britain. Ground roast mustard seeds, fried wheat, ground roast turnip, ground acorns and powdered horse liver.

Coffee prices at record high after bad weather
Coffee drinkers are set to feel the pinch from high prices after crops got hit by drought and heavy rainfall.

⚠️ Pontypridd has been hit by devastating floods and our wonderful independent bookshop, Storyville Books, has seen much of its stock destroyed.

If you’re able to buy a book from them, this would go such a long way to help support them rebuild in the aftermath.

Nestled in the rolling hills of the South Wales valleys, we are the only independent bookshop in Pontypridd, selling new books and more.

It's snowing outside, which means it's time to recommend my favourite book that I read this year. The Frozen River by Ariel Lawhon, a true historical fiction about a midwife that became swept up in a murder inquiry in 18th century America.

The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky

Well under way with draft 2 of the novel I began this time last year. I’m participating in #Nanowrimo so will see how much of it I can get done. At the very least, this is all a great excuse for me to drink loads of cappuccinos at different cafes around Paris.

First 3 episodes of #Arcane season 2 are out. I animated one of my favourite sequences of shots in episode 2, so am super happy to see it on my TV after all this time! #arcaneseason2

Reached Challenge 15 of level 1 on the #SaySomethingInWelsh program. I hope to see more people on Bluesky using Say Something In Welsh… it’s a really well made language course and very easy to follow compared to other methods I’ve tried.

I went to one of those sensory deprivation tanks today. So relaxing. I wish I could have one at home. Every workplace should give contributions towards relaxing activities like that!

My 2011 iMac finally died. I was in the middle of an epic lion animation. I decided yesterday that the lion jumps and doesn’t catch the bird, because life isn’t fair. How appropriate for my computer to die the next day.

Yesterday was my last day working as an animator on Arcane at Fortiche Production. What an amazing experience the past 4 years has been.

I'm on the lookout for interesting opportunities starting from or after April 2024.

The work on this demo reel is already 3 years old:

One day I want to read One Moonlit Night by Caradog Pritchard in the original Welsh version… really enjoyed the English translation. Then I want to read other stories and poetry that were never translated. Maybe in two or three years if I manage to keep up with studying.

Going to get back to making ink illustrations soon. Here are some I did during Inktober 2022, including one of Jinx from Arcane (I think the prompt was something like braid or ponytail).

Meet Sésame, a cat we recently adopted. He spends the day inside a yoga mat and comes out to party from midnight.

We’ve got a new kitten who has decided that despite there being a fluffy cat bed and cat tree, inside my rolled up yoga mat is the best place to sleep.

The program Say Something in Wesh is great. I’ve only been using it for 2 or 3 weeks for 6 mins a day and I already know more Welsh than I managed to learn in school. Still working on the rolling r sound though.

82k words in and my antagonist began to take over the plot. Time to give my protagonist a few espressos.

Maybe this is why I don’t know any other Welsh people in France. Apparently we’re a bit rare 🤔

Welsh: Nadolig llawen
Breton: Nedeleg laouen

Here’s a language similarity I learned a few years ago from a French person who was learning Breton. We were at a bar comparing Breton and Welsh words / phrases, then we came to “Happy Christmas”. As a Welsh person living in France, it made me happy!

Enjoying Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck but wow those scenes with the cotton pickers losing their jobs to the mechanical tractor man is kind of too close for comfort with regards to the anxiety some artists have about AI at the moment. At the same time, shows what a timeless classic this book is.

Bus driver tried to knock me off my bicycle this morning out of anger for me sharing a lane that buses and cyclists are expected to share. Caught up to tell him he almost hit me calmly, got a f you in return. Not the first time an RATP driver tried to injure me in Paris. Education is needed.

First post so let's make it an intro. I'm a character animator from Wales and now live in France. I currently work for #Fortiche Production. Feels like a long time ago now but here is my stuff from #Arcane season 1. Looking forward to eventually sharing my work from S2!
