Trumpers are still determined to take food out of the mouths of babies.
OK, where are we on the SNAP benefits cases?

Two things happened this morning:

* DOJ told SCOTUS they're still fighting to stop full November SNAP benefit payments, via their stay request at SCOTUS
* District court judge in Mass. stayed USDA's 11/8 memo ordering states to "undo" full payments

GOP operatives (including two Trump pollsters) have long called for reinstituting the ACA credits, warning that the GOP is on track to pay a “political penalty” for its actions.
As Jeffries points out, the largest percentage of voters who make use of the enhanced ACA tax credits are Republicans.

Comer, a rich man, receives free health care, paid for by the taxpayers he wants to screw over. So there's that.
Comer: "This is a fake economy. You can't have 1/3 of America receiving some type of free government healthcare and then have another 1/3 that's getting a subsidized rate. That falls on the final 1/3 that's having to pay increased premiums."

Scoop, This is what Shaheen just heard from the White House: "Sucker!"
Shaheen: "We've heard from a number of our colleagues on the other side of the aisle that they're willing to come to the table, they're willing to work with us once the govt is open to get this done. We've heard the same thing from the White House. So now we'll see if they're really gonna work w/us"

Simon Rosenberg is correct, as usual -- as a political matter -- Trump and the Republicans lost this shutdown badly, as they did the election.
And the cracks in the TrumpedGOP coalition are showing, and will only grow. It is Democrats' job to aid in turning those cracks into crevasses.

Stormtrooper pep rally.
Astonishing: Bovino and his agents showed up at the Bean this morning to pose for pictures. While Border Patrol snapped photos, one agent shouted, “Everyone say, ‘Little Village!’” The neighborhood where they are least welcome and most acutely felt. blockclubchicago.org/2025/11/10/b...
Border Patrol Agents Pose At 'The Bean' For Apparent Photo Op
The photo op came after agents tear-gassed a Little Village street and were spotted in the area numerous times. At the Bean, one agent shouted, "Everyone say, Little Village!"

Listening to these 8 Dem Senators explain their vote convinces me that they are either idiots or liars. Either is plausible.

This is not what people were mobilizing for on Oct 18.

"I believe Democrats will stand shoulder to shoulder," says the Senator who stopped standing shoulder to shoulder with her colleagues yesterday.
Shaheen: "I think we can get a bipartisan bill out of the Senate that will address this [healthcare] issue. And if not, we know that the voters are going to know who's on their side and who's going to hold them accountable."

Schumer engineered the bad decision to cave in March. But there is, so far, zero evidence to support the below contention. Shaheen has been in charge of this misguided effort from its inception many weeks ago. Blaming Schumer unfairly excuses those responsible.
If you believe it was just 8 senators I have a bridge in Brooklyn to sell you. This was a Schumer operation.

There was, essentially, no "deal" regarding the ACA tax credit. Indeed, King said there will have to be "60 votes" for the D bill, thus indicating the "agreement" leaves room for a GOP filibuster in the Senate. And there's no indication yet that Johnson agreed to a House vote.
Major concession from Democrats here is enhanced ACA funds aren’t extended. Preserving them was Dems’ central demand in this fight. They secured a promise of a vote (which Thune has been offering for weeks), but that could still fail. Even if it passes, Johnson has made no promise of a House vote.
Tentative Senate deal to end shutdown, multiple sources tell me & @frankthorp.bsky.social:

—CR through Jan 30
—Approps minibus
—Fully funds SNAP
—Reverses Trump’s shutdown RIFs
—Promise of Senate vote on ACA subsidies by Dec second week (details/outcome uncertain)
—Led by King/Shaheen/Hassan

That, of course, is not true. But the electorate of New Hampshire, Maine and Nevada does not equate to that of most Blue States.
American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

The more Shaheen and her faction tried to "explain" their action, the less sense it made.

RepublTrumps are even more angry at those who seek to preserve our Nation's democracy after last week's elections.
