A scarcity of specialists and huge growth in out of pocket costs are issues Canberrans regularly raise with me.

Specialist care shouldn’t be reserved for the wealthy, govt needs to get serious about tackling these spiralling costs.

Stamp duty on housing is one of our worst taxes.

It is contributing to the housing crisis and is long overdue for reform.

International Court of Justice says Israel must allow UNRWA to deliver aid in Gaza.

🇦🇺 must push for international law to be upheld.

The Xbench opposes the Government’s attempt to weaken Freedom of Information laws.

Good to see the Opposition recognise these deep flaws - the bill should not pass.

We need more transparency, not less & I'll keep fighting for your right to know.

The Albanese govt’s first term was the second most secretive on record.

Rather than changing their ways, they’re doubling down and tightening our FOI system to make it even harder to get information. Not a single expert or member of parliament outside of the Labor party has backed their new bill.

The Govt committed publicly to chipping in 42.5% of the cost of public hospitals by 2030.

But we’re now told that that is actually unlikely to happen.

Public hospitals are experiencing huge demand, so it’s frustrating to see the promises but no firm commitment on delivery.

Climate change is driving up insurance costs & making homes uninsurable

🇦🇺ns are paying the price while disasters worsen

As Minister Bowen said: "The cost of inaction will always outweigh the cost of action"

We need real action & investment in adaptation

Even former gambling execs are calling for action on gambling ads.

Good to hear the Minister is restarting talks on reform, but what’s needed is courage from the PM to take on vested interests & pursue a complete ban on ads - just as the Murphy Review recommended.

The Govt just set a 2035 emissions reduction target of 62–70%.

That’s below science & flies in the face of the duty we have to protect the people & places we love.

State commitments have 🇦🇺 headed for ~70%. This lowers the bar & makes it harder to push for more global ambition.

If you’re interested in the strength of our democracy, this is worth a read.

Labor & the Coalition rammed electoral reform laws through parliament to make it harder for minor parties & indies.

Now there's a bill to reduce transparency in the FOI system.

I am deeply concerned about the impact should Qantas proceed with closure of its Qantas Link base in Canberra.

It would hurt the workers and their families required to relocate and could also exacerbate already high rates of flight cancellations.

Govt needs to put the community ahead of the fossil fuel industry’s expansion and set a strong 2035 target so we can show global leadership and push other countries to do the same.

Govt should be serving the people, not the big gas exporters.

A $30bn takeover of Santos by a foreign state-owned oil giant isn’t just business - it puts energy security, energy prices, export contracts & climate action at risk.

We need a public inquiry into this shady deal to provide transparency & answer questions.

My amendment to force the Government to immediately release 20,000 Home Care packages has just passed the Senate.

It would be hugely disappointing for the Albanese Labor Government to oppose this in the House of Representatives.

Labor talk a big game on climate action but their first act after the election was to approve the biggest fossil fuel project in Australia out to 2070.

They need to set a strong target to be able to cut emissions here & pressure global leaders to take action

With a 10% increase in ppl seeking to access homelessness services there is a lot of work to do.

The first term of the Albanese Government was the second most secretive in the last 30 years - more secretive than the Morrison Government.

This has to change in their second term - we need more transparency and respect for the Australian people.

Australians are dying waiting to receive support from Homecare packages & we're hearing report after report about bed block.

The XBench asked govt to bring forward 20,000 packages to help with the 87,000 backlog but the Minister said no.

I will keep pushing & this inquiry will gather the evidence.
