Strong to severe storms are moving east across Metro #Birmingham. They could produce winds of 40-60 mph, hail, heavy rain, and plenty of lightning.

A large area of Moderate to Severe Drought is present across Central Alabama. This is due to the ongoing lack of beneficial rain, warm, and dry conditions.

The forecast calls for the drought to persist and get worse over the next few months.

The Severe and Extreme areas are expanding northeast across Central Alabama with all of the dry conditions over the last week. The rest of the region is in a Moderate to Abnormally dry drought.
