I honestly am not sure what my first Superman comic was. I have a memory of seeing this one on an airport newsstand and picking it out, which must have been when I was about 3 years old, so it's a reasonable candidate.

I recently visited the National Archeological Museum of Naples, and it had an almost-identical Hercules. What you couldn't see and I could, is that in his right hand behind his back, Hercules is holding the Golden Apples of the Hesperides.

I still remember the RAC'er at SDCC (whose name I should remember, curse my aging brain) cosplaying the Mike Grell design. It had a lot more impact in person than it did on the printed page, I can tell you that.
