We're increasingly living in a world where we don't know what's real and what's not, most of our social media feeds filled with AI slop that many are taking as the truth. The least we could hope for is being able to trust our fellow humans. A lot of the time, we can. In the case of this New Zealander who failed to mention his 25-year conviction for kidnapping, we can't. We can trust Stuff to amend its mistakes, but then I start to feel cynical when that happens at 10.06pm. If we're gonna survive the next few years, we're going to have to surround ourselves with the truth as much as humanly possible. And be willing to 'fess up – at a reasonable hour – when we get it all wrong.

First, I LOVE both Webworm and Flightless Bird. I’ve listened to the pod since I first heard Armchaired and Dangerous, and I’m also a paid Webworm subscriber. I love the work that you and Rob do. My one complaint is that lately you’ve published some great in-depth stories on Webworm, then shortly after recorded a Flightless Bird on the same topic. I know it’s because each outlet has different customers, but I’m always disappointed when this happens. Invariably, the essay comes first, so I usually skip listening to the accompanying episode. I’ve already consumed 85-90 percent of the content by reading, and don’t need to hear most of it a second time. It’s disappointing, since I always look forward to FB Tuesdays! I just want to reiterate that I LOVE both forms, and find your written reporting to be spectacular. I hope you can return to a little more of the quirky or unexplained content in FB, rather than just a retread of the Webworm topics. Perhaps just add a prologue or coda to the FB eps that reference the Webworm topic or plays a clip of the interviews. Anyway, keep up the great work!! hey jason thanks for supporting webworm! occasionally there will be crossover, it's just the nature of how i work. tickled started as 3 written blogs in 2014. mister organ was 7 written stories on the spinoff. most of my webworm stuff (800 pieces or so) is unique to webworm. sometimes it'll cross over to flightless bird like spaceman barry). hell house on webworm was a very personal reflection and photo essay, on fb is it was seperate interviews with yanks. my work will sometimes crossover as i am just 1 dude writing 2 to 3 webworms a week for 5 years, and 1 fresh (free) podcast for 156 episodes now! most flightless bird listeners also have no idea webworm even exists. hope this makes sense, and again ty for supporting webworm - as it's where most of my "stuff" begins.

Six days ago, Air New Zealand told Webworm they would pull the Australian snacks pretending to be New Zealand snacks off its planes, while they investigated. To quote them: "We will not serve the snacks onboard our flights while we undertake this process. This will take the next couple of days to come into effect." Well, over the weekend Webworm heard from plenty of passengers still eating the snacks on Air New Zealand planes, bringing Webworm to the conclusion that Air NZ is full of hot air.

Some horrible details I was told about this: apparently they are trying to disrupt the concept of “dinner” so for example: - Dessert is on conveyer belts (NOT a sushi train, completely different concept ™️. - after a time all the tablecloths withdraw and all the food just falls off the tables - They just kick everyone out at a certain point - all the most annoying people in auckland will be there - loads more deeply irritating “disruptive” concepts to be unveiled during dinner

hi - most of my public interest journalism (hundreds of pieces) is not paywalled. some of my work i paywall, as it means i can pay myself, my guest writers, and get legal advice. this piece created change and alerted the correct people. and, in this case, those who support my work get to read it.
