A plurality of U.S. Catholic Bishops wanted the Blue Jays to win the World Series. (Yes, this is an actual vote today...they were using it to test out new voting equipment).

I'm not thrilled with Archbishop Coakley being elected President of the USCCB. But we could have ended up with this guy, Bishop Robert Barron, instead, who would have been far worse. We should be very glad we didn't. He appears to not be well-liked by his brother bishops.

Here's the voting today for the President & Vice President of the US Bishops Conference. It was a two-man race for President, with conservative Coakley winning by a relatively narrow margin over moderate Flores on the 2nd ballot. Flores won easily on the first ballot for VP. 1/

Trump's strategy of denying rising costs is an absolute political loser. And all Republicans who have enabled him bear responsibility for this.

What the what, The Atlantic?! Pope Leo's speaking out against Trump far more than Pope Francis did. Does no one know how to cover religion & Catholicism anymore?!

This is such bullsh*t from New Hampshire's leading TV station, WMUR. No it doesn't guarantee that food stamps are going to be funded through the 2026 fiscal year, because Trump's been impounding funds!

South Carolina. #FITN again in 2028. New Hampshire must never go first again.
November 10, 2025 at 3:03 AM
South Carolina should go first. We don't have any Democratic senators but at least we have @repjamesclyburn.bsky.social, who's not a wimp.

Google trends on Chuck Schumer over the past day.

Jeanne Shaheen is routinely awful on a range of issues. On keeping lily white New Hampshire first (yeah, it's her state but she's also way too into how wonderful NH supposedly is), to voting for Trump nominees, to the shutdown.

This was such a pain to drive through when I'd go to see my mom. She died in 2019. It's just getting finished now. That's absolutely insane.

I hadn't realized that the Republicans' slogan in Virginia was sort of a paraphrase of a Sondheim lyric, @crampell.bsky.social. Also, not a good slogan for these times! Maybe part of the reason they didn't merrily roll along.

This is so reflective of how awful @nytimes.com & @nytopinion.nytimes.com are at covering American politics & elections. It's all their own anecdotal vibes narratives. This past week showed a variety of approaches, suited to particular electorates, are what works. There's not going to be a...1/

America in 2025 under Donald Trump and JD Vance.
November 9, 2025 at 6:11 PM
No serious reporter would ever in a million years remotely report on Vance’s extremely tenuous relationship to the Catholic fath (he’s even been called out on this by two Popes!) in this way. Shame on Francesca Chambers.

Viktor Orbán’s only 62 years old. Hate ages you.
November 9, 2025 at 2:33 PM
The bigotry is so blatant.

Look at how proud Vance is to be with Orban.

The Trump-Vance agenda.
November 8, 2025 at 8:04 PM
If the @nytimes.com & its political editors had any shame or ability to engage in self-reflection, this article would once and for all end their incredibly non-systematic, anecdotal, awful approach to covering politics. Sadly, they have neither.

Yet another example in the mountain of examples of how absolutely awful today's pundits are.
November 8, 2025 at 6:22 PM
These two idiots. Today's pundits are so incredibly awful. There are no Walter Lippmans in this crowd.

Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger won in landslides in NJ and VA and were both among the 17 most moderate Democrats in the last Congress. Absolutely damning data for the ideologues who think that Democrats shouldn't run moderate candidates in moderate electorates.
